About this policy
Tutor Pay keeps your teaching records on your own phone; we only hold what is needed to sign you in and know your plan. This policy explains what the Tutor Pay Android app (package com.cadence.tutorpay) collects, why, and the choices you have.
Tutor Pay is made by Cadence, an independent developer ("we", "us"). Questions about privacy: cadence.apps.support@gmail.com.
This policy applies to the app and to backups it creates. By using Tutor Pay you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
We collect your Google sign-in details and your plan status; the teaching records you enter stay on your phone unless you choose to back them up.
| Information | Examples | Where it is kept | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account details | Your name, email address and Google account ID | Google Firebase (sign-in) | To sign you in and keep each account's records separate |
| Plan details | Free or Monthly plan, limits set for your account | Google Firebase (Firestore) | To apply the right plan and limits |
| Teaching records you enter | Student and parent names, WhatsApp numbers, fees, groups, sessions, attendance, payments, waive-offs, notes | Encrypted database on your phone only | To run the app's features |
| Subscription status | Whether your subscription is active, renewal and expiry dates, a purchase reference | Google Play and RevenueCat | To unlock Monthly plan features |
| Backups you choose to make | A copy of your teaching records | Your phone's Documents folder, files you share, or your Google Drive (Monthly plan) | So you can restore your records |
| Settings | Currency, reminder message, backup schedule | Your phone | To remember your preferences |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or microphone. The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. We never see your Google password; Google handles sign-in.
How we use and store information
Your teaching records are stored in an encrypted database on your phone and are not sent to our servers. Each Google account that signs in on a phone sees only its own records.
- To provide the app: work out dues, show reports, and prepare WhatsApp reminders and Excel or PDF files when you ask.
- To manage your plan: check whether you are on the Free or Monthly plan and apply its limits.
- To keep your data safe: create backups when you ask, on a schedule you choose, or automatically before a required app update.
- To support you: reply when you contact us, using only what you choose to share.
Google Drive backups (Monthly plan) are saved in Drive's hidden app folder, which only Tutor Pay can read. If you set a backup password, the copy is encrypted with it and we cannot open it. Backup files saved to your phone or shared by you are under your control.
Sharing and third-party services
We do not sell, rent or share your information for advertising. We use a few service providers only to run the app:
| Service | What it receives | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Name, email, account ID, plan details | Sign-in and plan settings | Firebase privacy |
| Google Play | Purchase and payment details | Subscriptions and app updates | Google privacy policy |
| Google Drive (optional) | Your backup copy | Monthly plan backups you turn on | Google privacy policy |
| RevenueCat | Your account ID and subscription status | Confirms your subscription with Google Play | RevenueCat privacy |
WhatsApp: when you tap Remind, the app opens WhatsApp with a message you can review and send. Tutor Pay does not send messages itself or read your chats.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users' safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Student and parent information
Tutors decide what student information to enter and are responsible for it; it stays on the tutor's phone and backups.
- Enter only what you need to manage classes and fees, such as a name, a parent's WhatsApp number and payments.
- Make sure students or their parents know you keep these records and, where the law requires, have agreed to it.
- Do not enter sensitive details such as health information, identity numbers or bank details.
- When a student or parent asks you to remove their details, delete the student and then delete them forever from Deleted items.
We do not access or receive the student records on your phone. Records you put in a Google Drive backup are stored in your own Drive account.
Keeping and deleting your information
You control your records: they stay until you delete them, and you can delete them at any time.
- In the app: deleting a student, session or payment moves it to Deleted items; Delete forever or Empty removes it from your phone.
- Uninstalling the app deletes its database from your phone. Backup files you saved to Documents/TutorPay or shared elsewhere remain until you delete them.
- Google Drive backups: stop them in Settings, and delete the copies in Google Drive under Settings > Manage apps > Tutor Pay > Delete hidden app data.
- Subscription: cancel anytime in Google Play; billing records are kept by Google as the law requires.
- Your account: open Profile > Delete account in the app. It permanently deletes your records on this phone, the backup files Tutor Pay saved on it, your Google Drive backups, your plan details and your sign-in account; you can share a copy of your records first. If you no longer have the app, email cadence.apps.support@gmail.com from the address you sign in with and we will delete your account within 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription; cancel it in Google Play.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to see, correct or move your information, or to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us to use these rights.
Security, children and changes
Security. Records are encrypted on your phone, and connections to Google and RevenueCat use encryption in transit. No method is perfectly secure, so keep your phone locked and your backups private.
Children. Tutor Pay is for tutors aged 18 or over. It is not meant for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Where information is processed. Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards.
Changes. We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
